Recovery that holds up.

Blac Blok is an Australian debt collection agency. We work for businesses that are owed money, and we deal fairly with the people who owe it — because an account that’s collected badly tends to come back as a dispute, a complaint, or a customer you’ve lost for good

What we believe

How we approach recovery.

Verify before you chase

Most collection problems start with a debt that was wrong from the beginning — the wrong amount, the wrong person, already paid, or too old to enforce. We check first. If an account shouldn’t be pursued, we tell the creditor and close it.

Pressure isn’t a strategy

Harassment doesn’t produce money; it produces complaints and regulator interest. A clear explanation and a workable arrangement recover more, more often, and keep the creditor’s name intact.

Everything on the record

Every contact, request, dispute and payment is logged. Creditors get a proper account of what happened. So does anyone who asks us about their own file.

Our fees

Our fees depend on the age, size and type of the debt. Contact us and we’ll discuss the terms that apply to your accounts before you refer anything to us.

Questions from people we’ve contacted

Answers to common questions.

We’re a debt collection agency. A business you dealt with says an account with them is unpaid and has asked us to collect it, or has sold the debt to us. Our letter names the original creditor and gives a reference number. If you don’t recognise the debt, ask us to prove it.

Never pay based on a phone call alone. Ask for our letter, the original creditor’s name and the reference number, then call us on the number published on this website rather than a number given to you. We’ll never ask for gift cards, cryptocurrency or payment to a personal account.

Not by ourselves. We can ask you to pay and explain what the creditor may do next. Only a court can order you to pay, and only after proceedings where you get to respond. Anyone who tells you otherwise is misleading you.

It depends on the type of debt and who the creditor is. Not every business is allowed to report defaults, and there are rules about notice, minimum amounts and how overdue the debt must be. Ask us directly about your account and we’ll tell you the position.

Tell us. We can look at smaller instalments, a pause, or putting the account on hold while you get advice. Ring the free National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 if you’d like independent help — we’ll deal with a financial counsellor on your behalf if you nominate one.

Debts can become statute-barred, meaning they can no longer be recovered through the courts — generally six years after the debt fell due or your last payment or written acknowledgement, and three years in the Northern Territory. Tell us if you think that applies and we’ll check it before doing anything else.

Send us whatever proof you have — a receipt, bank statement line, or confirmation email. We’ll pause the account, check it with the creditor, and confirm the outcome in writing.

We can only contact a third party to find your contact details, and we can’t disclose that you owe a debt while doing it. We won’t discuss your account with anyone who isn’t you or someone you’ve authorised.

Within the limits in the ACCC and ASIC debt collection guideline. If you’ve given us an arrangement or asked for written contact only, we work to that instead.

Yes. Nominate a financial counsellor, lawyer, family member or support person in writing and we’ll deal with them. You can also ask for an interpreter.
